About the Director
Welcome to 2024!
My name is Grace Mattingly, and I am the proud Artistic Director and owner of Street Slamin Dance Centre, located in East Wagga, NSW.
I have been immersed in the world of dance since the age of four. Under the guidance of Lydia McNamara, I studied a diverse range of styles, including Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Lyrical Contemporary, Body Conditioning, Acrobatics, and Cheerleading. I also completed the rigorous RAD Classical Ballet syllabus up to the Advanced Level, including Pointe work under the mentorship of Miss Anne Reardon, and explored Ballroom Dance with Gavin Hulm.
My journey took me to Street Slamin, where I refined my Hip Hop technique with Callie and began teaching Jazz and Contemporary across all age groups, choreographing dynamic end-of-year showcases. I have had the honor of performing with the NSW State Dance Team, participating in the iconic School Spectacular, and dancing interstate under acclaimed mentors such as Mikayla McGregor at Ministry of Dance in Melbourne and Paul Malek as part of Origins Dance Company for four years.
Additionally, I successfully auditioned for prestigious institutions including The McDonald College (Sydney), Patrick Studios, Transit Dance, and Ministry of Dance (Melbourne), ultimately pursuing full-time dance training at Kelly Aykers Dance Studio in 2020. My performance credits span numerous productions, including SCPA, Allegro, WWHS, KCC productions, the State Dance Festival, AASCF Cheerleading Championships, and Life in the Spotlight. I have competed at local, state, and national levels across eisteddfods and championships, enriching my expertise through workshops across Australia.
I hold a Certificate III in Dance Teaching, Certificate III in Business, and am certified in First Aid and CPR.
At Street Slamin Dance Centre, my vision is to cultivate not only technical excellence but also a supportive and inclusive environment where every dancer feels welcomed, valued, and inspired. I strive to create a home away from home—a space where students can discover their unique potential, build lasting friendships, and feel a deep sense of belonging.
As a passionate advocate for safe and progressive teaching practices, I am committed to nurturing dancers in a way that promotes confidence, resilience, and joy. My goal is to develop competitive squads and soloists who excel at state and national levels, while ensuring every student experiences the transformative power of dance, regardless of their aspirations.
I am incredibly excited for the year ahead and look forward to fostering a culture of excellence, creativity, and unity within our dance family. Together, we will continue to shine, grow, and create unforgettable memories.
Here’s to an extraordinary 2024!
